How to care for and maintain waterproof fabric?

Practical Guide to Waterproof Fabric Care
1. Key Cleaning Principles
Avoid Machine Washing: Machine washing and tumble drying can easily cause the waterproof membrane to peel off. Hand washing and gentle rubbing are the safest options.
Avoid Chemical Detergents: Laundry detergent/fabric softener can clog pores. Soak in a dedicated detergent for 10 minutes.
Stain Removal Techniques: For oil stains, blot with paper towels first, then gently brush with cold water; for mud stains, brush dry and then wipe with a damp cloth.
2. Proper Drying Method
Avoid Direct Sun Exposure: UV rays accelerate coating aging. Air dry in a cool, ventilated place.
Caution with Tumble Drying: If tumble drying is necessary, choose a low temperature setting (<40℃). High temperatures can melt the micropores of the membrane.
Avoid Ironing: High-temperature irons directly damage the waterproof layer; wrinkles will disappear when hung.
3. Waterproof Function Maintenance
Regular Activation: Tumble dry at a medium-low temperature for 20 minutes to revitalize the water-repellent effect (water droplets bounce back).
Touch-up Care: Apply beeswax to waxed fabrics annually: use a hairdryer to heat and penetrate, then wipe evenly with a towel.
Avoid Oil Contact: For membrane-type fabrics, immediately wipe with an alcohol swab if oil gets on them.
4. Storage Precautions
Avoid Compression: Prolonged compression can cause the film to stick together; hanging in a wardrobe is best.
Mold and moisture prevention: Ensure dryness before storage; use moisture-absorbing bags for moisture control.
Avoid chemicals: Keep away from mothballs/insecticides, as they can corrode the waterproof coating.
5. Emergency treatment for damage
Small hole repair: Cut a special repair patch and iron it at a low temperature (available in outdoor stores).
First aid for glue separation: Apply a thin layer of waterproof glue to the detached seam and press it with a book for 12 hours.
Water repellency failure: Spray water repellent: Spray evenly and then dry to reactivate.
